The Society for Endocrinology have awarded a number of Summer Studentship Grants during the summer of 2022: Daniyal Ashraf, with the Farooqi group Khalid Guma’a, with the O’Rahilly group |
Giles Yeo – 2022 Society Medal of the Society for Endocrinology.
Stephen O’Rahilly and Sadaf Farooqi – The Royal Society’s Croonian Medal 2022 “for their seminal discoveries regarding the control of human body weight, resulting in novel diagnostics and therapies, which improve human health.
Fiona Gribble and Frank Reimann – Wellcome Joint Investigator Award (2020) which will allow the group to investigate the cellular mechanisms of gut hormone secretion in human organoid models, and explore how the gut endocrine axis in humans is affected by nutrition, obesity and metabolic disease.
Sadaf Farooqi –Wellcome Principal Research Fellowship (2017). This allows Sadaf and her team to further develop their programme of basic and clinical research into the fundamental mechanisms controlling human energy homeostasis by studying people with severe obesity and thinness.
