The MRL Core Facilities ensure that all our researchers have access to the highest quality scientific facilities, support and training they need to develop and enhance their research.
The MRL includes the following Core Facilities
- Disease Model Core (DMC)
- Genomics and Transcriptomics Core (GTC), will be merging with Bioinformatics and Biostatistics (BIO2)
- Bioinformatics and Biostatistics
- Histopathology Core
- Imaging Core
- Biochemical Assay Lab (CBAL)
- Peptidomics and Proteomics Core
- Metabolomics and Lipidomics Laboratory (CMALL)
- Translational Research Facilities (TRF)
These are led and staffed by scientists with expertise and experience, and are supported by the Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome and NIHR. See the links above for more information on individual Core Facilities and how they contribute to the work of scientists at the IMS-MRL.

SONIC Seminars
In order to improve collaboration between groups in the IMS-MRL and showcase the excellent work happening, for example, in our core facilities and the availability of recent method developments and new technologies, we launched a series of internal seminars, aimed to increase networking, innovation and collaboration. These are complementary to our Tuesday IMS-MRL seminar series, and allow core facility teams and more junior team members to present their research internally. The SONIC seminars take place on a Thursday afternoon each month and briefly showcase four different projects to stimulate new collaborations and generate new ideas.
