Research focus
My research focuses on using human stem cell–derived models to understand the development and function of metabolically active tissues, particularly brown adipose tissue, in the context of obesity and cardiometabolic disease. I am particularly interested in how cellular and molecular mechanisms can be translated into therapeutic strategies.
Background and experience
I have a background in medical laboratory sciences, with a strong foundation in clinical diagnostics and laboratory quality systems. I later specialised in biotechnology, completing my MSc at Nottingham Trent University, where I worked on inflammatory signalling in mesenchymal stem cells and developed an interest in advanced human cell models. I joined the University of Cambridge to further develop my expertise in stem cell biology, particularly using iPSC-derived cerebral and spinal organoids as physiologically relevant human models to study disease mechanisms and support translational research.
