Background and experience
Dr Evan O’Flaherty is from Galway, Ireland, and graduated in medicine from the University of Galway in 2023. During medical school, he received several academic awards, including the Reuben Harvey Prize from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He subsequently completed his medical internship and Basic Specialist Training in General Internal Medicine in the West of Ireland through the RCPI and was awarded MRCPI in April 2026. During his training, he developed a particular interest in obesity and bariatric medicine, which led him to join Professor Farooqi’s team at the University of Cambridge.
