Team achievements
Giles Yeo was awarded the 2022 Society of Endocrinology Medal
As part of the Cancer Grand Challenges initiative, Tony Coll as co-investigator (with Steve O’Rahilly and Giulia Biffi) on the CANCAN (CANcer Cachexia Action Network) team, exploring the underpinning mechanisms behind cancer cachexia.

MC3R links nutritional state to childhood growth and the timing of puberty Nature 2021 Nov 3.
In this paper we uncovered that the melanocortin 3 receptor (MC3R) links nutritional state to childhood growth and timing of puberty.

HypoMap – a unified single cell gene expression atlas of the murine hypothalamus. Nature Metabolism Oct 2022.
In a collaboration with colleagues at the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research, we have merged 18 large mouse single-cell datasets into an integrated reference atlas of the mouse hypothalamus we call ‘HypoMap’. This represents the most comprehensive database of its kind. It can serve as an important platform to unravel the functional organization of hypothalamic circuits, and to identify novel druggable targets for treating metabolic disorders.
