For the 2017 festival we invited medical professionals to join us at the Institute of Metabolic Science to meet clinical researchers, ask questions, share tips and tell us more about how they’d like to engage with research.
We also invited clinical researchers (3 doctors and 3 nurses) who work in or in association with the IMS to tell us how being a researcher benefits their clinical practice and how their clinical experience informs their research.
We invited nurses to join us via Twitter for our first #MRL_chat on ‘Do nurses make good researchers; do researchers make better nurses?’
2016: We’re getting fatter, does it matter?
Our event for the first MRC festival included short introductions to the latest science from Sir Steve O’Rahilly, Paul Fletcher, Fiona Gribble and Giles Yeo and a panel discussion chaired by broadcaster Dr Chris van Tulleken, with questions posed by the audience. With plenty of time built-in to ask questions, air ideas and chat to the speakers over a glass of wine, the evening provided a thought-provoking perspective on some of the causes and consequences of obesity.
