Genomics and Transcriptomics Core
Lab Facilities
The GTC provides scientific equipment and consumables required for most genomics and transcriptomics experiments (please see our equipment section for details). We also have dedicated pre-PCR and post-PCR rooms for sensitive experimental procedures such as single cell studies
Next-generation Sequencing Library Preparation
We would normally recommend facility users (esp. students and post-docs) to generate their own NGS sequencing libraries under supervision from one of our staff but we are also able to generate libraries for at a cost recovery rate.
Computational and Data Management
We have setup a dedicated 180TB lustre storage attached directly to the High-performance Computing (HPC) cluster at UIS West Cambridge site to store our NGS data for up to 3 years.
All computational and bioinformatics analyses are performed at the Darwin HPC cluster which contains 9600 processing units and 4.6TB of memory.
Bioinformatics Analyses
We map raw sequence files (.fastq) from CRUK and perform basic variant calling (BWA/GATK) or differential gene expression (Tophat/Cufflinks/edgeR) free of charge. We can also help with more complex experimental designs and bespoke data analyses at a competitive price.
